This legal issue brief analyses the Order recognizing ownership, and vesting custody and management of the repatriated looted Benin Artefacts in the Oba of Benin. The brief appraises the rationale for the Order in the context of the historical circumstances leading to the looting of those works of art and spiritual heritage of the Benin People. The brief also considers the international law justifications for return of stolen artefacts to their rightful owners, including the Oba of Benin.en_US
