dc.description.abstract | The amendments proposed in this Bill is in 2 parts, part one which consist of
sections-
226(2), 227, 230, 329A, 340 and 362 seeks to amend the Principal Act to
provide a stiffer penalty for offences under the Act. The Criminal Code Act is
an old Law enacted in 1916 and as such, most of the penalties prescribed to
offenders are not in tandem with the current social and economic realities.
While the second amendment- section 327; seeks to provide for a more rational
punishment for the offence of attempted suicide. The punishment proposed by
the second amendment will be curative and not punitive thereby making it
possible for victims to be able to reintegrate into the society. | en_US |
