| dc.description.abstract | This Bill seeks to alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
1999, to expressly recognize, Local Government Areas, and Area Councils
as constituent units of the Federation, alongside the States. The alteration
provides constitutional clarity on the composition of the Nigerian
Federation and affirms the constitutional and administrative status of the
Federal Capital Territory and its Area Councils as integral parts of the
