| dc.description.abstract | This Bill seeks to amend the Electoral Act, 2022 to strengthen electoral
integrity through the establishment of the Electoral Offences Commission and
the imposition of stricter penalties for electoral crimes. It further mandates the
use of technology for voter accreditation and the real-time transmission of
election results, enhances transparency in the electoral process, improves
candidate qualification standards, and promotes accountability in campaign
financing. In addition, the Bill imposes enforceable obligations on the
Independent National Electoral Commission in the management of election
petitions and ensures that all petitions are determined before the swearing-in of
elected officials. The overall objective is to deepen Nigeria's democracy by
guaranteeing elections that are credible, transparent, and accountable. | en_US |
