A Bill for an Act to Establish the Fisheries and Aquaculture Institute, Agatu and for Related Matters, 2025

Abstract

This Bill seeks to provide for the establishment of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Institute, Agatu (FAIA) to offer vocational training and education focused on fish farming, aquatic ecology, water resource management, and fish processing technologies. The Institute shall provide full-time and part-time programmes leading to the award of Diplomas, Higher National Diplomas (HND), and other professional certificates in fisheries and aquaculture. The establishment of FAIA is aimed at promoting practical skills development and innovations in fisheries and aquaculture as part of Nigeria's economic and environmental sustainability efforts. The Institute will serve as a platform for training skilled manpower needed to boost fish production, aquatic ecosystem management, and fish processing industries, thereby contributing to food security and community development
