Treaties are the bedrock of international relations. Nigeria has signed on to several treaties that have given her a voice in global governance but have also raised concerns on their implications for the country. The paper interrogates the extant legal framework on treaty management in Nigeria and highlights the international legislative processes involved in making treaties. The paper examines the practice in other jurisdictions as well. The discussion inter-alia finds the Treaties (Making Procedure, etc) Act, 2004 inadequate and recommends its replacement with a robust law that will provide a legal and institutional framework for effective treaty management in Nigeria.en_US
