Working Paper

The quality of education in Nigeria is significantly hindered by inadequate teacher training and high attrition rates within the profession1. To address this, it is crucial for legislators to prioritise enacting policies and providing oversight that supports comprehensive reforms in teacher training and retention. These reforms, to be implemented by the relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), should align with the country’s educational objectives and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
