Strengthening the Legal Framework for Climate Resilience in Nigeria: A Legislative Intervention for Disaster Risk Reduction

Abstract

-To analyse the existing legal and institutional frameworks governing climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction in Nigeria, identifying gaps and limitations that hinder effective climate resilience. -To advocate for legislative reforms that will integrate climate risk assessment, early warning alert systems, and climate-resilient infrastructure into national and sub-national planning and development processes. - To propose specific amendments or new legislation aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to prevent, mitigate, and respond to climate-induced disasters.
